Maintain the water level
Many irrigation systems use surface water from a lake source to supply the water they need. While the natural groundwater replenishment cycle is often sufficient, sometimes additional water is required to keep the lake level equal to the water table level and involves a lake water pump system designed specifically to address this need. Some coastal areas are mandated to replenish from the aquifer to match every drop that is used from the surface water source.
In these circumstances, a submersible refill system, consisting of a pump and a motor, pulling water from a well is needed to help with lake augmentation. The irrigation system will usually pull water from a lake overnight, then the refill pump system pulls water from a different aquifer to replenish the lake during the day.
Automatic devices out in the water monitor the water level, either mechanically or electronically, so that when the surface water drops below a certain level it triggers the refill pump and when the lake has filled up sufficiently it turns off.
Thanks to Hoover, irrigation is no longer an issue at Equus! Hooray! The landscaping looks fabulous, there are a few to no homeowner complaints, no dead grass and no iron staining.
